Genting Courting Miami Officials

Genting is wooing Miami officials in an attempt to get a gaming licensing for its planned $3 billion resort in the city, Miami Today reported.

Genting flew local leaders to Southeast Asia to tour its casino resorts, showing them what they could potentially bring to South Florida.

Genting is pushing for casinos in Florida, as are other major companies such as Las Vegas Sands and Wynn. Genting has hired a Florida attorney to lobby for a gaming license.

Earlier this year, Genting bought 14-acres in downtown Miami for $256 million and hired superstar architectural firm Arquitectonica , which is expected to reveal a resort concept this fall.

A bill introduced to the legislature earlier this year, dubbed the Sheldon Adelson bill, would have allowed five mega-resorts, each with a 75-mlle monopoly zone.

One of our favorite South Florida resorts is PGA Resort. Such a great hotel to visit with the whole family!
