Cobb County Democrats, Republicans Split on Casinos
My comment:
Rep. David Wilkerson is correct, that any mention of gaming and racing in Georgia, has to do with budgetary needs - most likely educational funding, and more specifically, the HOPE Scholarship. Last year's bill to add the gaming question to a statewide vote in November needs to carefully restrict casinos and/or racetracks to specifically chosen communities, and those should only be chosen after local commission or city votes say yes.
The great majority of communities will fear the increases in crime, prostitution, compulsive gambling and traffic congestion outweigh the increase in jobs, taxes and development.

How Much Would Tribes Contribute to State from CA Sports Betting Revenue
My comment:
I am very much in favor of sports betting and American polls tell us that around 80% of the adult population supports it. This is far higher than the public support for casinos, racetracks or for any other form of gaming.
Many states have authorized it online along with casino games, which I strongly disagree with. The primary reasons that states want online gaming are for potential tax revenue and as a way to compete with illegal internet gaming sites. The public wants sports betting to be more convenient than just at Tribal and commercial casinos and racetracks.

Sports Betting, Online Gaming Boost Atlantic City Casinos in October
My comment:
My recollection of New Jersey's attempt to repeal PASPA, was to help Atlantic City recapture visitors, lost to New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Well, in the first 10 months of 2019, Atlantic City's 9 casinos have won $96 million, but only $14.7 million was won at an AC sportsbook; a paltry 6.2% of the total sportsbook win, of $237 million, in the Garden State.
