Much of that has to do with the Strip's concentration on mid-week demand from conventions and trade shows that not only increase room occupancy but dramatically increase mid-week rates, when compared to AC.
AC no longer has over 14 million line run bus customers, which helped the casino win, but did little for hotel occupancy. Prior to 2006, we had no meaningful competition, so we were still able to fill mid-week rooms with higher rates than are offered today.
Commercial air service and the industry concentrating on the convention trades is what is needed today and in the future. AC casino win is up 20%, but some of that is online where our casino rooms remain vacant.
The time is now for a concerted push for a commercial airline company to open Atlantic City to new markets, and the convention trades.
