Showboat Closer to AC Casino License

There could again be 10 casinos in Atlantic City if owner Bart Blatstein has his way.
New Jersey Casino Control Commission has approved Blatstein’s statement of compliance, a step towards licensing.
Blatstein plans to build a new casino structure on a more than 120,000 square foot lot he purchased at the northeast of the Showboat, which lets him circumvent a deed restriction for gambling at the property, he said.
Blatstein bought the Showboat in January 2016 for $23 million and has operated it as a non-gaming hotel since July of that year. He also received approved last year to transform four hundred hotel rooms into 264 apartments, leaving 785 hotel rooms. That construction should be done in May.
The Showboat would be the third revived property in Atlantic City following Hard Rock at the site of the former Trump Taj Mahal and Ocean Resort at the former Revel.
