Macau’s hotel guests and visitors on package tours rose in March.

The number of hotel guests grew 3.2 percent to 1.186 million with an average occupancy of 90.7 percent, up 1.7 points over last year.

Average stay held steady at 1.4 nights. The total of Mainland Chinese hotel guests rose 8.2 percent to 835,000 and those from South Korea increased 11.0 percent to 45,000.

The number of guests from Hong Kong fell 20.9 percent to 104,000 while guests from Taiwan decreased 5.8 percent to 37,000.

Through March, the total of hotel guests is up 4.5 percent to 3.516 million.

Package tour visitors soared 39.6 percent to 996,000 with Mainland Chinese visitors up 47.5 percent to 803,000.

Package tour visitors from South Korea grew 31.1 percent to 63,000 while visitors from Hong Kong grew 47.1 percent to 20,000.

Through the first quarter, package visitors grew 16.5 percent to 2.479 million.
