Casino Smoking Bad for the Body, but No Smoking Bad for Business, Harrah's New Orleans Says
I was the individual that convinced then-Governor Edward, that a single casino in New Orleans would be better for the City, than casino games in every 500 room hotel. My rationale was that a single casino could afford a more spectacular attraction that having Puerto Rico-style gaming in multiple properties.

The first mistake made by the Ohio Legislature was approving the casinos for its major cities, rather than place them in the suburbs or rural areas nearby. The only existing city center casinos that are very successful are in Michigan, where there is no competition to downtown Detroit.

The casino fees are not the problem. If I were investing in a Bermuda gaming license; the bigger questions for me would be the win tax rate, the number of licenses, and the minimum number of rooms that qualify for a license.

Casino gaming can be a wonderful attraction in markets with meaningful population, or a substantial number of visitor accommodations. And, unlike Nevada, Mississippi and Atlantic City, the number of operators should be restricted based on the size of the potential audience.
