Why a Chicago Casino May Never Happen


My comment:

If Chicago decides to allow casino gaming, the facility should be located in Downtown Chicago, not on the outskirts.

I was privileged to be Sheldon Adelson's President/COO, at the Las Vegas Sands, in 1990. We had just opened the largest convention facility, with over a half million sq. ft., of any hotel in North America. Sheldon's company also owned the world’s largest trade show, Comdex, representing the growing computer industry, and needed to find accommodations for 170,000 exhibitors and attendees.

Bloomberry Resorts can now proceed with the development of a Solaire-branded casino at the Vertis North complex in Quezon City in the Philippines after the city council approved a regulatory ordinance, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

A high entrance fee for locals will be implemented.

However, PAGCOR will likely take the ordinance to court in attempts to block its construction, saying it has the exclusive right to grant regulatory actions such as allowing a casino to be built.

Slots at Pennsylvania truck stops and satellite casinos will launch later this year, with some satellite casinos opening in the next seven to nine months, the Meadville Tribune quoted state Gaming Control Board Executive Director Kevin O’Toole.

There are five satellite casinos planned for the state, with each allowed 750 slots and 30 table games. Penn National, Greenwood Gaming, Mount Airy and Cordish Cos. will operate the casinos.

Caernarvon Township recently approved Penn National’s plans for its $111 million Hollywood Casino Morgantown, WFMZ-TV reported. Construction will take up to 18 months.

Sports Betting Has Come to Pennsylvania. So When Do Internet-based Games Arrive?

My comment:

Pennsylvania is already the state with the most types of gaming available, and casino games and sports bets, on smartphones and computers may seem a great way to raise voluntary taxes, but there are plenty of secondary concerns.
